STEAMPUNK DROP SPINDLE No.99 - Dragons and Jewels:

This spindle uses a large and mostly worn out antique (early 1900's) Swiss made pocket watch dial that has seen some wear and has probably spent a very long time in a watchmaker's bench drawer waiting to show itself again. The dragon is a commercial art acetate transfer and is applied to the surface of the dial - wrapped around a somewhat intricate design that intertwines the dragon and the antique and vintage watch gears, drive wheels, and ruby watch jewels - and two thick layers of epoxy resin to encase it all forever.  The dial is mounted onto a 2-1/4" and there are 36 Medium Vitrail AB and Erenite AB color Swarovski crystal rhinestones adorning epoxy glued to the perimeter if the dial and there's a large 1.75" clock gear added the bottom side for stabilization and good rim weight.

SPECIFICATIONS: 1.2 ounce (35 grams) - Acrylic whorl 1/8” x 2.25” (3.2mm x 5.7cm) - Shaft: 3/32” dia. x 8.75" (22.2cm) in Emerald Green

The WHORL is made from a laser cut acrylic disc that I've edge milled and polished to soften the edges. The SHAFT is made from high carbon (spring) steel with a forged hook that has a 2-part powder coat paint finish applied for a beautiful look and feel. The, the dial, and gold plated findings, antique clock gear and other clock components (bottom side) are assembled with an industrial 2-part epoxy glue.
