Shaft: Tapered 1/8" to 1/4" (32. to 6.4mm) dia. x 12.25" (31cm) incl./hook
This NEW Antique Timepiece (Steampunk) Style Drop Spindle design stems from the use of a late 18th century (Circa 1780) white porcelain carriage clock dial that has been adorned with a gorgeous and colorful peacock commercial acetate art transfer and 12 Emerald Green AB Swarovski crystal rhinestones adhered to the surface - all coated in two thick layers of a durable and long lasting epoxy resin clear coat finish.
The WHORL and Bottom side design is made from a large/heavy solid brass clock gear and has a polished nickel winding gear with brass drive gear and Siam crystal mounted to it to achieve perfect balance. Two acrylic discs are milled and attached to the bottom side of the gear and around the shaft for lateral stability of the whorl.
The SHAFT is made from a tapered 12" length of durable and sustainable Eco-Lyptus wood (Eucalyptus grandis x E. urophylla hybrid) that has been heat treated and coated with two coats of durable finish lacquer. The top of the shaft is milled smaller to fit a solid polished brass sleeve over it (top side of the whorl) - along with a 1/2" heavy duty bronze plated steel hook is glued and screwed into the shaft at top. The bottom of the shaft has a smaller brass sleeve press fit and epoxy glued to the outside of the shaft (to prevent cracking) - along with an emerald green crystal placed inside and coated with epoxy resin.
This is a phenomenally good spinner with great rim weight for a nice and balanced long spin. All components are assembled with an industrial 2-part epoxy glue.
