Antique Timepiece (aka Steampunk) Tibetan Style/Size Support Spindle No.169 Circa 1895 American Watch Company (US Made) Pocket Watch Dial with Hummingbird Art, Watch Parts, Crystals, and Brass Grandfather Clock Weight Wheel and Silver Plated Filigree Pendant Whorl

 2.2 oz. (64g), WHORL: 1.91 (49mm) diameter, SHAFT:  Larger Size .125" (3.2mm) diameter x 8.3" (21.1 cm) length in Raw/Uncoated Steel

Made from 50 individual pieces, the centerpiece of this spindle is the circa 1895 American Watch Co. Porcelain-Enamel Pocket Watch Dial with added hummingbird art, crystals and a perfectly balanced Antique Grandfather Clock Weight Pulley Wheel.  PARTS USED: The dial, commercial hummingbird art transfer, vintage and antique watch parts, epoxy resin clear coat, brass clock pulley, a tarnished silver plated floral-filigree pendant, gold and silver plated findings, Swarovski crystal rhinestones, and the raw/uncoated spring steel shaft with its heat forged hook.  All components are bonded with industrial epoxy adhesive and the shaft is sprayed with rust inhibitor oil before shipping.

This is a heavier weight well balanced spindle with plenty of weight and a larger diameter whorl that spins forever - and it will work great for spinning a wide variety of fibers.

HISTORY: AMERICAN WATCH CO./WALTHAM of Waltham, Massachusetts:
The roots of the American Watch Co. began as the former Boston Watch Company which operated from 1853 to 1857.  It was then reorganized as Appleton, Tracy, & Co. in Waltham, Massachusetts and later went on to consolidate with the Waltham Improvement Co. and on January 1, 1859 to form the American Watch Co., which
is generally considered to be the first successful US watch making company. By 1877 American Watch Co. was producing roughly 425 watches per day and employs 900 workers. It had many name changes over the years and a couple of small reorganizations and eventually became the Waltham Watch Company in 1885 and operated until 1957 when it finally ceased operations.
