Antique Timepiece Support Spindle No.112
Antique Timepiece (aka STEAMPUNK/Tahkli Style) Support Spindle No.117
WEIGHT: 1.2oz. (36g), WHORL: 1.22” (31mm) diameter, SHAFT: .104” (2.7mm) diameter (small size) Steel Tahkli Shaft x 7.8” (19.8cm)
A Victorian Era (Circa 1890) made in England White Porcelain Enamel with delicate gold leaf accents and hand painted Roman numerals "Ladies Watch" dial is the centerpiece of this spindle. The dial is carefully drilled to fit the shaft and is top coated in a thick layer of epoxy resin for a no-snag long life and durable finish that not only looks gorgeous, but it will be an outright workhorse of a spindle. The dial is mounted to a 1.22" diameter alloy whorl that has a satin brass finish and the top side of it is milled to fit the gold plated bead cap and has a vibrant blue mica infused blue tinted epoxy resin coating the top (of the whorl/under the cap). There are two Multi-Crystal AB Bead Spacers (one inside/one outside the cap) and all of it sits around a Metallic Sapphire Blue Seel Tahkli Shaft that is finished off with gold and silver plated/tone findings.
This is an incredibllywell balanced medium weight Tahkli Support Spindle that spins fast and long and is perfect for a wide variety of fiber.
The shaft is made from spring steel with a heat forged hook and is colored with a 2-coat hi-temperature powder-coat paint. Dial is coated with 2 extra thick layers of epoxy and all parts are mounted with industrial 2-part epoxy.
