Antique Timepiece (Steampunk) - ONE OF A KIND - Heavier Weight Tibetan Style Support Spindle No.123

WEIGHT/DIMENSIONS: 1.8 oz. (52g), Whorl dia. 1.55” x 8.6" Length (39mm x 21.8cm),
This is the Larger Diameter (of the 2 that I make) Shaft = .137" (3.5mm) in Metallic Hot Magenta

Made from 26 individual pieces, this unique support spindle is made from a Circa 1920 Swiss Made Hebdomas Watch Company pocket watch winding barrel that has been surface polished and coated in epoxy resin to preserve the finish and keep the beautiful design from damage. The winding barrel, a US Eisenhower Silver Dollar, and a large vintage brass clock gear and cog make up the whorl, and several stainless steel and silver plated findings are mounted to one of my signature Hot Magenta colored Steel Shafts to finish off the top and bottom sides. A Steampunk design arrangement of antique and vintage watch gears/wheels and Swarovski crystal rhinestones are mounted within the bottom side of the whorl's clock gear. This is an amazing heavier weight spinner that will work great for spinning cotton, as well as most other short and fine longer staple fibers. The shaft is made from spring steel with a heat forged hook and is colored with a 2-coat hi-temperature powder-coat paint and all components are mounted with industrial 2-part epoxy.

HISTORY: The name Hebdomas recalls the festivities of Ebdomee, held in Sparta, Croton and Mileto, which celebrated the birth of Apollo on the seventh day of the month. Hebdomas is one of the greatest and oldest Swiss watch brands, which started its activities in 1888 in La Chaux-de-Fonds (Switzerland), the birth place of many famous Swiss brands. The Hebdomas 8 day watch was first made at the turn of the century and has continued steadily its production, with minor variation, ever since. The outstanding feature is the unusual large mainspring barrel which occupies the rear of the movement. Hebdomas received many rewards and medals for their innovative creations - in Geneva 1896, Paris 1900, Chicago 1902, Milan 1906, Bruxelles 1910, Berne 1914 - which are inscribed many of the winding barrels.
