This STEAMPUNK Drop Spindle design stems from the use of a rare and amazingly beautiful 2-tone porcelain pocket watch dial with hand painted floral details - made in England around 1880. The dial is embellished with a gold balance wheel, a polished steel escapement wheel, ruby watch jewel, and 11 Siam AB color Swarovski crystal rhinestones set around the dial. The dial is coated with epoxy resin to give the appearance of a watch crystal and it is permanently mounted to a 1/8" thick x 1.75" diameter acrylic disc that has been edge milled to a smooth surface.
The bottom side of this top-whorl drop spindle has a large (1.75" dia.) vintage clock gear attached for added stability and rim weight. This is a wonderful light to medium weight spindle with good rim weight for really amazing spin.
The shaft is made from high carbon (spring) steel with a forged hook that has a 2-part powder coat paint finish applied for a beautiful look and feel. All components are assembled with an industrial 2-part epoxy glue.
