- Weight: 0.8 ounce (25 grams), Whorl: Acrylic .4” x 1.5” (10mm x 38mm), Shaft: .106” (2.8mm) dia. x Overall Length: 8” (20.3cm)
This design incorporates a 1/8" acrylic whorl that has been color tinted to match the shaft color. The whorl is adorned on top and bottom sides with identical altered silver plated pendants, bead caps, multi-crystal bead spacers, and finding - all adhered to the whorl, and your choice of 10 shaft colors, with industrial 2-part epoxy glue. The WHORL is made from a laser cut acrylic disc that I've milled to soften the edges and polished. The shaft is made from high carbon (spring) steel with a forged hook that has a 2-part powder coat paint finish applied for a beautiful look and feel. All parts, including whorl, findings, cap bead, and findings are assembled with an industrial 2-part epoxy glue.
This is an awesome light weight spindle that is wonderful for spinning fine longer staple fibers, as well as short staple fibers like cotton.
