Made from 55 individual pieces, this Tahkli (Style) Support Spindle is made with two 1" aluminum-bronze coin discs and two 1/16" thick x 1.25" acrylic discs for a whorl - and mounted to a 7.75" powder-coat-painted steel shaft. The Radiance of this amazing spindle comes from the additional jewelry components, including two beautifully made (real 18ct Gold Plated or real Platinum Plated) filigree medallions that are specially prepared to fit around the shaft - along with two Sapphire Blue colored faceted foil-crackle glass beads, gold or silver tone/plated findings, and 36 Sapphire and Light Sapphire AB colored Preciosa (Czech) Crystal Rhinestones mounted top, bottom, and in between the acrylic discs on the side of the whorl.
The shaft is hand-made from spring steel with a heat forged hook that is coated with a 2-coat hi-temperature powder-coat paint, and all parts are mounted with industrial 2-part epoxy resin adhesive. This is a medium weight Tahkli style spindle and it spins fast and long – making it great for not only cotton, but other short and longer/fine staple fibers as well.
