This is my latest of 3 versions of this spindle that features this gorgeous Ireland coin. The spindle is made with two bronze/copper 1968 Ireland "The Hens of Éire" 1 Penny Coins that have been tarnished, fine sanded on my lathe to reveal the coin's unique design, and coated in a thick layer of epoxy resin top coat to give it a no-snag/long life finish. The coins are bonded to a 1/4" thick acrylic disc and mounted to a limited edition Shamrock Green steel shaft and adorned with gold and silver plated findings (top and bottom sides). This is a light to medium weight Tahkli style spindle and it's perfect for spinning cotton and other short and fine long staple fibers as well.
