This is my latest version of a traditional/basic Tahkli Support Spindle - made with a Southwest Design flair. The whorl is made from a 1.07” diameter solid Copper-Nickel 1980's Mexico 5 Peso coin (reads "Independencia y Libertad" in Spanish on edge)for a whorl, which is adorned with two chrome plated and black paint Southwest Style Sunflower Conchos with a faux turquoise center - mounted to a shaft that is hand-made from a RAW/UN-COATED high-carbon spring steel with a heat forged hook . All parts are mounted with industrial 2-part epoxy and all edges/joints have been epoxy glued to assure your fiber will not get caught in the jewelry pieces, and the spindle shaft and coin whorl are polished after assembly.. This is a light to medium weight Tahkli style spindle and it is the best balanced, fast, and long spinning spindle that I make. These are wonderful spindles for spinning not only cotton, but other short staple fibers as well.
