Antique Timepiece Jewelry Pendant (Steampunk No.15) - Circa 1900-1910 - FREE SHIPPING
2-sided (Movement side/Dial side) Pendant only - DOES NOT INCLUDE CHAIN
This pendant is 2.3" (58mm) tall (including bail) x 1.85" (43mm) wide x .37" thick (9mm) - and weighs 1.3 ounce (38 grams)
This necklace pendant is made from a re-purposed mechanical watch movement along with its original dial from a made in Switzerland Simpson's Brighton Lever pocket watch. These watches were imported for the English market by retailer Simpson’s of Brighton and were a lower quality yet affordable and dependable pocket watch for the common man. After acquiring this timepiece, I fully disassembled the watch down to the individual components - then ink in the type and mount the main plate onto my lathe to spin it to polish and etch a circular pattern to the flat and carved parts that leaves a pattern that bounces the light off of the otherwise dull 120+ year old brass. I also polish up the balance cock and other components bring out their beauty. Some of the mounting holes are drilled out and Swarovski crystals are added to them along with 30 crystal clear crystals placed onto the surface.
The original dial is embellsihed with gears and components from this watch and 27 Swarovski crystal rhinestones are added to add a bit of shine to the piece - it, and the movement are bonded to a 1/8" thick arylic disc in center with the bail recessed into the acrylic - thus becoming permanently affixed to the pendant. All parts are secured with industrial 2 part epoxy resin glue, both sides are coated in 2 thick layers of epoxy resin and the whole thing is sanded smooth and polished to a bright finish.
