This STEAMPUNK Drop Spindle design stems from the use of a rare find - a strikingly beautiful vintage (1975-1980) Dark Bronze Color Metal foil Westclox Scepter pocket watch dial in near perfect condition. The STEAMPUNK Design uses authentic antique to vintage (1880’s to 1970’s) wrist and pocket watch balance wheel, polished winding gears, brass drive gears, springs and levers, and ruby jewels that are bonded to the surface and coated with 2 thick layers of epoxy resin finish (approximately 3/32" thick).

The WHORL is made from a laser cut acrylic disc that I've edge milled and polished to soften the edges. The shaft is made from high carbon (spring) steel with a forged hook that has a 2-part powder coat paint finish applied for a beautiful look and feel. The dial and whorl, as well as the shaft and large clock gear on the bottom side are all bonded with industrial 2-part epoxy glue.  The bottom side of this top-whorl drop spindle has a large (1.75" dia.) vintage clock gear that's been spun and polished - then attached for added stability and rim weight.
