This STEAMPUNK Drop Spindle design stems from the use of a polished and carved metal 1919 Waltham Grade 1894 pocket watch dial with a lovely Art Nouveau inspired design details. The design incorporates antique to vintage (1880’s to 1970’s) watch escapement wheel, brass and polished steel gears, springs and levers, and ruby jewels bonded to the surface and coated with 2 thick layers of epoxy resin finish (approximately 3/32" thick).

The WHORL is made from a laser cut acrylic disc that I've edge milled and polished to soften the edges. The shaft is made from high carbon (spring) steel with a forged hook that has a 2-part powder coat paint finish applied for a beautiful look and feel. All components are assembled with an industrial 2-part epoxy glue.  The bottom side of this top-whorl drop spindle has a large (1.75" dia.) vintage clock gear attached for added stability and rim weight.
