This top whorl drop spindle incorporates a porcelain enamel on brass World War Two era Elgin Model 313 pocket watch dial in a non-reflective coating color called "dark earth." This dial is paired with antique to vintage (1850's to 1970's) authentic watch parts that make up this intricate STEAMPUNK design, which is then coated in 2 thick coats of epoxy resin.
The WHORL is made from a laser cut acrylic disc that I've edge milled and polished to soften the edges. The shaft is made from high carbon (spring) steel with a forged hook that has a 2-part powder coat paint finish applied for a beautiful look and feel. The dial, and gold plated findings, antique clock gear and other clock components (bottom side) are all assembled with an industrial 2-part epoxy glue. The bottom side of this top-whorl drop spindle has a large (1.75" dia.) vintage clock gear attached for added stability and rim weight.
